How Makhus Works

1. Introduction

When you book an Experience through Makhus, the platform provides the interface for booking and managing your reservations. Makhus is a company registered and incorporated under the relevant laws, with its headquarters at 26652 Richard Dr, Warren, MI 48089, USA.

Certain terms and conditions are used on this page that have specific meanings. Please refer to the Makhus Terms of Use for detailed definitions.

2. What Does Makhus Do?

Makhus serves as an online platform to help you discover, book, and enjoy various experiences.

Once you complete a booking through Makhus, you enter into a contractual agreement with the Supplier — the individual or entity responsible for organizing and delivering the Experience you booked. Makhus acts as an intermediary, connecting you to these Suppliers.

Before listing on the platform, Suppliers agree to abide by Makhus' quality standards and criteria. Each Experience must meet these requirements before it can be featured on the platform. Additionally, Suppliers may be subject to a non-refundable fee to review new experiences they submit.

The Experiences displayed on Makhus may not represent the full scope of experiences available globally, either online or offline.

3. How Does Makhus Make Money?

Makhus is not a platform that connects you with third-party suppliers. Instead, we serve as the primary agent for booking and selling the Experiences you see listed on our website. We directly sell and manage these Experiences, meaning we own and operate the tours and activities you book through our site.

When you make a booking through Makhus, you’re engaging directly with us. We do not earn a commission from any external suppliers; rather, we generate revenue by selling our own curated Experiences. Each booking helps us continue to enhance the services and experiences we offer to our customers.

4. Our Approach to Searching, Sorting, Ranking, and Recommending

Makhus employs various algorithms and systems to rank and recommend Experiences, allowing you to search, filter, and sort the listings according to your preferences. Search List Pages You can search for Experiences by various criteria such as location or activity type. When you perform a search, Makhus may use past behavior data (like previous searches or bookings) to help tailor the results for you.

By default, search results will be sorted in a way that prioritizes what we believe might be most relevant to you. This is based on factors like:

  • Relevance
  • Quality (as per Makhus' standards)
  • Customer reviews
  • Popularity and booking frequency
  • Availability and pricing

Makhus also personalizes search results based on your browsing habits, location, and other relevant indicators.

You can also choose different sorting methods, such as:

  • Traveler ratings: Sorting based on reviews and ratings from past customers.
  • Price: Sorting by the lowest or highest price.
  • Duration: Experiences sorted based on their duration, either longest or shortest.
  • New Arrivals: Viewing Experiences listed most recently.

To help narrow down your choices, you can apply various filters, such as:

  • Category (e.g., city tours, adventure activities, cooking classes)
  • Theme (e.g., family-friendly, cultural, nature)
  • Time of day (morning, afternoon, evening)
  • Budget (set a price range)
  • Free cancellation: Display only experiences with flexible cancellation policies.

If you see any Experience marked as “Promoted”, it means the Supplier has opted to pay a higher commission for better visibility on the platform.

Experience Shelves Experiences are also organized on specific "shelves" on Makhus, often categorized by themes like “Popular this Month” or “Recently Viewed.” These shelves aim to help you quickly find relevant experiences based on what you’ve interacted with before or what is trending.

If an Experience is labeled as "Promoted" within any of these shelves, it indicates that the Supplier has agreed to a special promotion for enhanced visibility on the platform.

5. Reviews

You can submit a review or rating for an Experience only if you were the one who booked it via Makhus. Before publication, each review undergoes automated tracking to ensure it meets our criteria for validity. If discrepancies are found, the review might be rejected or flagged for validation.

All submitted reviews are reviewed by our moderation team before being published on the site. Once published, the review will remain available indefinitely unless it violates our guidelines or is manually removed upon your request.

To maintain the integrity of the review system, we remove reviews offered in exchange for gifts, services, or any form of compensation. If you feel that a Supplier has offered incentives for a review, please contact us.

Suppliers are allowed to engage with customers via the private messaging system on Makhus but are prohibited from requesting review removals or offering rewards in exchange for reviews.

6. Prices and Payments

When you make a booking, you’ll pay the full price of the Experience, including applicable taxes and any required fees. Suppliers must clearly disclose any additional charges for optional add-ons or mandatory third-party fees that may arise during the Experience.

Makhus or an associated entity processes your payment for the Experience. For further details, please review the Payment section in the Customer Terms of Use.

7. If Things Don’t Go to Plan…

If you encounter any issues with your booking or the Experience, Makhus offers customer support to assist in resolving disputes between you and the Supplier. However, Makhus does not provide any guarantees regarding the performance or quality of the Experience or the Supplier.
