Overview

There’s no place on Earth quite like the Sundarbans—where Bengal tigers roam mangrove jungles, crocodiles bask on muddy banks, and narrow creeks whisper age-old stories of nature’s wild rhythm. Add to that the hauntingly beautiful city of Bagerhat, home to ancient mosques and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and you get an unforgettable blend of nature, culture, and history.

The Sundarbans Bagerhat Magical Wildlife and Culture Tour is a 6-day journey designed for the curious traveler. It begins in the heart of Dhaka and takes you by overnight train to Khulna, the gateway to both the Sundarbans and Bagerhat. From here, you’ll embark on a private boat cruise through the remote river systems of the world’s largest mangrove forest. You'll walk the Herbaria Mangrove Trail, sleep under the stars on a Sundarban boat safari, scan the horizon from Katka Watchtower, and possibly spot the elusive Bengal tiger. After the wildness of the forest, the calm spirituality of Bagerhat awaits—with its 60-Dome Mosque, Tomb of Khan Jahan Ali, and centuries-old Islamic architecture.

Perfect for those seeking an eco-tourism adventure, this guided experience brings you face-to-face with Bangladesh’s raw natural beauty and its rich historical legacy. Whether you’re searching for wildlife, history, or simply peace among rivers, forests, and sacred sites—this tour delivers it all.

Twice during your journey, you'll travel by comfortable overnight train, allowing you to maximize your time exploring instead of sitting in traffic. The Sundarbans Bagerhat Magical Wildlife and Culture Tour is truly where jungle adventure meets timeless culture.

Tour Plan

Day 1: Departure from Dhaka – All Aboard the Southbound Train

Your adventure begins in the heart of the capital. Between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM, our representative will pick you up from your hotel or Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. After a short transfer through the bustling city, you’ll arrive at the Kamalapur Railway Station to board the overnight train from Dhaka to Khulna. As the train departs around 7:00 PM, settle into your sleeper seat and watch urban sprawl give way to rural scenery. This comfortable overnight journey is the first step toward your Sundarbans eco-tour—a transition from concrete to creeks, and from noise to nature.

Day 2: Into the Mangroves – Khulna to the Sundarbans

Arrive in Khulna before sunrise and drive directly to Khulna Launch Ghat, where your private boat awaits. After breakfast onboard, your Sundarban boat safari begins. As the boat sails through the dense mangrove delta, you'll complete your Sundarbans Forest entry permits and meet your official forest ranger. Your first stop is the Herbaria Mangrove Trail, where you can walk among salt-tolerant trees, watch mudskippers hopping across tidal flats, and spot birds like black-capped kingfishers or Brahminy kites. This short jungle walk introduces you to the raw beauty of the Sundarbans Forest tour in Bangladesh. Continue deeper into the wild, heading toward Kachikhali—a remote area known for its rich biodiversity and frequent tiger sightings. Enjoy lunch and dinner on the boat as you relax on deck. At night, the boat anchors quietly near the forest edge. With the stars overhead and the distant howl of jackals or calls of owls, you’ll fall asleep surrounded by nature.

Day 3: Sunrise Safari, Katka Tiger Point & Mangrove Marvels

Wake with the sun and begin your day cruising through narrow creeks and backwaters, prime wildlife spotting zones. Keep your binoculars ready—you may catch glimpses of spotted deer, wild boar, or even the Royal Bengal Tiger if luck is on your side. After breakfast, reach Katka Forest Station, one of the top destinations on any Sundarban adventure tour. Take a guided jungle walk, then climb the Katka Watch Tower for sweeping views of the forest canopy and grassy open fields below, where animals often graze. Later, unwind at Katka Sea Beach—where the mangrove forest meets the Bay of Bengal. Take a beach walk, rest, or even enjoy a refreshing swim (tide and weather permitting). By afternoon, begin cruising toward Karamjal, passing through tranquil, winding rivers. You’ll have the chance to enjoy a peaceful Sundarban forest cruise with the possibility of spotting dolphins, river otters, and migratory birds. Enjoy your second night aboard, surrounded by stars and the calls of nocturnal wildlife.

Day 4: Wildlife Centre Visit & Return to Khulna

In the morning, explore the Karamjal Wildlife Centre, an important stop on your Bangladesh Sundarbans eco-tour. Here you’ll see rescued spotted deer, learn about the crocodile breeding center, and gain insight into mangrove conservation efforts in Bangladesh. After this enlightening stop, begin your return cruise to Khulna. Have lunch onboard as the boat retraces its route through calm channels, passing local fishing boats and riverside villages. Upon arrival at the port, transfer to your hotel in Khulna. In the evening, enjoy a local restaurant dinner and explore the relaxed charm of this river city. Spend the night at your hotel to rest after your jungle expedition.

Day 5: Discover Bagerhat – A City of Mosques and Memory

After breakfast, begin a scenic drive to Bagerhat, a historic Islamic city and UNESCO World Heritage Site. This leg of the journey is ideal for history enthusiasts, spiritual travelers, and cultural explorers. Your first stop is the Sixty Dome Mosque (Shait Gumbad Mosque), the largest brick mosque in Bangladesh and a stunning example of 15th-century Indo-Islamic architecture. With its many domes and arched doorways, it is a jewel of medieval Bengal. Continue to the Tomb of Khan Jahan Ali, the saint-warrior who founded Bagerhat. The serene setting and spiritual atmosphere make it a highlight of your Bagerhat heritage tour. You’ll also visit the Nine-Domed Mosque, Chunakhola Mosque, and explore the Bagerhat Museum, where artifacts tell stories of Islamic civilization in Bengal. Your guide will share insights about Bagerhat's lost canals, once a vital part of the city’s drainage and trade system. Return to Khulna in the evening for dinner. Then, board the overnight train back to Dhaka—bringing your Sundarbans and Bagerhat tour full circle.

Day 6: Return to Dhaka – Journey’s End

Arrive at Kamalapur Railway Station in Dhaka early morning. Our team will greet you at the station and transfer you to your hotel or the airport for departure. You’ll leave with more than just photos—your journey will be imprinted with memories of river safaris, ancient mosques, and the rustle of the world’s largest mangrove forest. Optional Add-On: Want to extend your stay or visit another destination like Srimangal, Sylhet, or Cox’s Bazar? Let us know—we’ll help plan your next adventure.

A trip of a lifetime.

Staying entrenched in the Mangroves with easy access from our boat to the channels and islands of the Subdarbans. We had many excursions on our flat bottom canoe -all of them brilliant..

Sundarbans Tour, great trip

Great experience to go through the larges mangrove forest by boat and stay overnight on the vessel on the rivers. Even though accommodation and facilities are very basic on board I really liked the trip. Mam Holidays was very helpful to arrange a day-time journey back to Dhaka. My guide, Mizan gave me a lot of valuable information during our stay in the Sundarbans..

5 day Sundarbans Tour

This was a magnificent tour, all that we wsihed for and more, although the tigers did not come to see us. From the moment we were met on the steamer in Dhaka to the end of the tour we were looked after in a friendly, professional way. The driver was good and managed traffic well. In Khulna we wandered round local shops with no hassle, feeling very safe. The smaller boat that took us round Sundarbans was great, a lovely atmosphere created by the captain who was excited when he showed us dolphins and a crocodile. The guides were knowledgable and knew where to find birds, deer and a tiger paw print. The boat staff kept the boat well, very clean, lovely food and staff were always aware of our needs. I would recommend this tour and Bangladesh as a fascinating, safe country to visit..
